Motivational Monday

I've started following the BadAss Teachers  group on Facebook.  I have yet to post.  I feel my issues with education are small potatoes compared to what others are going through.  I do support my fellow educators.  We are in troubled times.  Teachers are being blamed for many things that are out of our control.  I'm not very vocal about my opinions, but there's one thing that I have become very passionate about that I have to get off my chest.  <<steps on soap box>>  The quote "Teaching:  We're not in it for the income; We're in it for the outcome." that you see above is e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.  It bothers me to no end!  Here is my open letter to teachers....

Dear fellow wonderful underpaid teachers,
Stop selling our profession short.  We are important.  We are valuable members of society.  We have taken too little, for too long.  We need to boycott signs like this.  Why?  We deserve every penny we get!  This quote, in my opinion, says teachers don't need to worry about an income, because we receive payment with "heart flutter"s or "sweet notes from students" or anything else that doesn't equate to cold hard cash.   We work hard for our salary.  Comments and sayings like this devalue our profession.  Stop.  Stand up.  Let's take back teaching.
Love and Respect,
Mrs. Jackson

  1. I couldn't agree more! We are worth every penny and more! We are helping to shape our most important resource, yet we aren't valued. Way to go!
